Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops in the protective lining of the body’s internal organs, the mesothelium. It is caused by exposure asbestos. The most common area that it affects is the outer lining of the lungs.

Symptoms include difficulty in breathing, chest pain, weight loss, fever and cough. The symptoms may be similar to lung cancer. Tests for diagnosing mesothelioma include chest x-rays, MRIs and CT scans.

The most common way of contracting mesothelioma is by having a job inwhich you are exposed to asbestos. Although mesothelioma is not caused by smoking, smoking may increase your risk of contracting mesothelioma.
