The human brain is surrounded by fluid called cerebrospinal fluid. It cushions and protects the brain itself. If trauma causes the brain to come in contact with the skull, this type of injury often results in what we call a ‘closed head injury’ which can, even if diagnosed as being “mild”, have serious consequences. TBI can cause loss of memory, confusion, disorientation, lack of concentration and headaches. It can be permanent and result in havoc in a person’s life even though they may look fine on the outside.
