Surgery In July Could Be Risky

July may not be the best month to undergo elective surgery.  New medical residents start in July in teaching hospitals.  These first year residents are not experienced and as skillful as they will be in the upcoming months.  Medical journals have reported a spike in medical malpractice incidents during the month of July and blame it, in part, on the new medical residents.  If you’re planning any type of elective surgery in these hospitals, consider postponing it for a few months to avoid surgical mistakes.
